just me

This is the image I choose when told I had to find a self-portrait to mimic, - not exactly typical, but I like it. Degas is probably my favourite artist of all time; I love his colours and the way he captures things you wouldn't normally be drawn to.
So based on this image, I photographed myself in a similar situation and used the palette to create my own self portrait. I never intended to imitate the picture exactly, instead I used it as a jumping off point.

so slowly...................

So this assignment involved creating a movie, set to music, that merged 10 or more images (which could be altered using Photoshop) and scanned items.
I was really stuck on this one,... no inspiration. Finally I came up with the idea of clocks , then a song came to me,... and well, here's the result.

I wish I had had more time for this, but you can only do so much. I scanned my alarm clock, while it was plugged in, adjusted some of the photos to increase the momentum of the images.

Urban Jungle

The point of this assignment was to use lots of layers. So I did, I took the original image and chopped it up, copied the buildings and changed them a bit to make the skyline more interesting. (I also edited out the boats because I found them distracting.) I added several layers of trees in the background, - a bit of a twist on the 'urban jungle' idea. Next I played with adjustment layers and changed the contrast and exposure. Although I like the colours that I got I decided to push it a bit further and got a different effect that I kind of like.
